True Hip-Hop Stories: Masta Ace from D-Nice on Vimeo.

The self proclaimed prince of swag is back at it with his second installment of studio magic on iSouljaBoyTellEm (Interscope). For sixty minutes or so, Soulja raps over what seems to be the same beat, talking about, well, mostly nothing. If Soulja planned on presenting the world with something new, he surely missed the mark on this one.
What Soulja does deliver on is a new ridiculous dance for Soulja Nation to learn. “Bird Walk” renders the same one-two step beat as “Marco Polo,” but the new steps have a little more flight to it. Ice-T may see Soulja Boy as the apocalypse of Hip-Hop, but one thing’s for sure, Soulja’s definitely profiting from his swagger as he prophesizes on “Turn My Swag On”, “I gotta question why they hatin’ on me? / I ain’t do nothing to them but count this money”.

From telling the world how great he looks in Gucci on “Gucci Bandana”, to boasting about his copious amounts of ice on “Shoppin’ Spree,” to dishing about his run-ins with the mall police on “Hey You There”, Soulja quickly runs out of topics to rap about. So naturally like any teenager, he turns his attention to chasing after the ladies.

Soulja yearns for those luscious assets on “Booty Got Swag”, as he painfully boasts that “her booty so big I can hang my chain from it.” Hooking up with Jamaica’s own teenage sensation Sean Kingston, the two take on dating on “Yahama Mama,” as they sing about being “Gs” and one night with them “will drive you crazy.”

Overall he takes the “Eazy” way out on iSouljaBoyTellEm by avoiding any sort of musical challenge and sticking with a product he already knows will make him tons of loot. Profit margins aside, Soulja Boy fails here with his limited subject matter and elementary lyrics. Yes he’ll keep the kiddies entertained for a couple of days, but life is not a game.

SUGA KNIGHT

Due to a lack of witnesses, prosecutors decided to toss Suge Knight’s most recent battery and drug charges, according to TMZ. As previously reported, Knight allegedly assaulted his longtime girlfriend Melissa Isaac by punching her in the back of the head while driving.

Prosecutors opted to drop the case even after the judge said the case could go forward without witnesses. Knight praised his two lawyers, David Chesnof and Richard Schonfeld, then told reporters, “God is good…Happy holydays.” Prosecutors now plan to take the case to a grand jury.

DMX

DMX is wanted. A Maricopa County Judge in Arizona just issued a bench warrant for the troubled rapper’s arrest after he missed another court date. X is currently facing drug, identity theft and aminal cruelty charges in AZ.

Per the judge’s ruling, X will have to post a $120,000 bond once he’s apprehended. “If he gets picked up outside of the state of Arizona they may hold him with no bond until Arizona picks him up depending on what state he may get picked up on,” Bradford Cohen, X’s attorney, told XXLMag.com. “They have between 15 and 30 days to pick him up from whatever state he’s in.”

Sources close to X say the rapper is currently in rehab at an undisclosed location, which could have caused him to miss the court appearance. “I haven’t confirmed it but he’s allegedly in rehab, allegedly he’s been in there since December 1, so take that for what it’s worth,” Cohen shared. “I haven’t spoken to anyone from the rehab [facility].”

X’s substance abuse problems have long been documented. He’s been arrested for marijuana and cocaine possession several times and was once nabbed while driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. -Bruce Moses with additional reporting by Clover Hope

Lil Wayne Takes Shots At 50 Cent

Lil Wayne has sparked rumors of a feud with 50 Cent after making disparaging comments apparently aimed at the In Da Club star on a new mixtape.

The Lollipop hit-maker appears to take lyrical jabs at his rap rival on a freestyle titled Louisianimal from his The Drought Is Over mixtape. On the track, he raps, "All about a dollar, f**k two quarters" - lyrics understood by fans to be a swipe at 50 Cent’s stage name.

Lil Wayne continues to take aim at the superstar’s endorsement of Vitamin Water, saying : "B**ch, I’ll pour syrup in that Vitamin Water."

He goes on to add, "I hope you die ugly, and tonight will be gorgeous

William Balfour Arrested

William Balfour, the man at the center of the investigation surrounding the deaths of singer/actress Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother and nephew, has been arrested.
Balfour, Hudson’s estranged brother-in-law, is expected to be formally charged with the slayings after his arrest on Monday (December 1) at Stateville Correctional Center.
The 27-year-old felon was served with an arrest warrant and released to Chicago police detectives following a stint at the Illinois Department of Corrections for a suspected parole violation, according to Chicago police spokeswoman Monique Bond.
Balfour’s arrest is the latest development following the shooting deaths of Hudson’s mother, Darnell Hudson Donerson, brother, Jason Hudson, and nephew Julian King.
Authorities discovered the bodies of Donerson and Jason Hudson October 24 at the family’s home on the South Side of Chicago.
Balfour, who was apprehended by police the same day, was taken to the Illinois Department of Corrections for the parole violation two days later.
Julian King’s body was found October 27 in a sport utility vehicle located on the city’s West Side.
Balfour, the 7-year-old’s stepfather, previously served seven years for a 1999 attempted murder and vehicular hijacking conviction.
He is the estranged husband of Jennifer Hudson’s older sister, Julia Hudson.
Andy Conklin, a spokesman for the Cook County state attorney's office, noted that Balfour was identified only as a “person of interest” until his arrest on Monday and had not been charged by late Monday afternoon.
Since being taken in as a potential suspect in the Hudson family murders, Balfour has maintained a tense relationship with authorities as he refused to take a lie detector test and cooperate with detectives assigned to the case.
Balfour’s mother, Michelle Balfour, has stood by her son throughout the investigation while denying that he had anything to do with the deaths.
During a hearing in November, Balfour's girlfriend told authorities that a gun used in the slayings was "identical" to the gun that was recovered.
As a result, the Illinois Prisoner Review Board board opted to keep Balfour in custody pending a review board panel hearing on Wednesday (December 3).

T.I. gave back to the community this past holiday weekend.

The rapper handed out corn in Atlanta’s biggest Thanksgiving dinner at Turner Field this past Thursday (11/27).

Tip also approximately rose $100,000 within two hours at an ATL radio station the night before. Young Jeezy also chipped in by donating $5,000. “It’s a pleasure for me to help service those who are definitely in need of the service,” T.I offered. The charity event was ironically organized by a group called Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless. In related news, Hosea Thomas was convicted of killing Philant Johnson, T.I;.’s former personal assistant in a 2006 shooting in Cincinati.

Gorilla Zoe Begins Weight Loss Challenge

In honor of the release of his sophomore album Don't Feed Da Animals, Atlanta rapper Gorilla Zoe is embarking on a 12-week weight loss challenge also entitled "Don't Feed Da Animal."

Zoe's goal is to lose 40 pounds with the help of fitness expert Ed Bowen; the 40-pound weight loss would bring Zoe's weight down to around 190 pounds.

"Big Block and Diddy both understand the importance of having the right image," Gorilla Zoe said in a statement. "I want to make sure my growth musically is also reflected in my new body."

Zoe is expected to shed the pounds through daily activities and a nutritional plan that will consist of foods such as protein shakes, baked chicken, vegetables, fruits and nuts, and more.

Fans can follow Gorilla Zoe's progress via his Web site www.dontfeeddaanimal.com where they can also join Zoe's weight loss challenge. Don't Feed Da Animals is expected to be released early 2009.

T-Pain

T-Pain’s stock has apparently risen courtesy of Diddy.

As previously reported, T-Pain, who has given Diddy permission to use Auto-Tune, will be receiving half a point on the mogul’s next album.

“I just wanna voice that, this stuff just happened,” Pain said in a youtube clip after Diddy announced he was going to use Auto-Tune on his next album. “I didn’t do it. It’s just Diddy. I just wanna announce that show prices are going up, features…This takes everything to a whole nother level. All the people spreading rumors, saying T-Pain charges $100,000 for a show…I actually do now.”
The clip starts with Diddy claiming to officially have permission to use Auto-Tune. The mogul then reveals his reasoning for awarding Pain with royalties off the album. “He didn’t negotiate with me,” Diddy said, “but as a gracious offer of gratitude, I’m giving him half a point on my album just because …Cause I got extra points too.”

“I know there’s a list of cats that he’s given permission to Ye, Wayne, Chris Brown and now myself,” he continued. ”That’s not pro-rated. That’s off the point off the album just because he let me dabble in the tune. It’s called graciousness, motherfuckas.”

Lil Wayne Clears Up 2nd Rochester Cancellation

By Ismael AbduSalaam

With criticism mounting after this week’s second aborted Rochester concert, New Orleans superstar Lil Wayne is now striking back against accusations of unprofessionalism.

In an exclusive statement to AllHipHop.com, Wayne publicist Myiah Hughes from AR PR Marketing first illuminated the reason for the concert’s first delay on October 26.

“Lil Wayne has not cancelled the Rochester, New York Blue Cross Arena performance,” Hughes explained to AllHipHop.com. “Failure to provide adequate equipment per a signed agreement, caused the October 26 concert date to be postponed.”

The concert promoter had alleged that Wayne walked out on the concert and fans due to being dissatisfied with the show’s sound system.

According to Hughes, Wayne made every attempt to accommodate the concert’s organizers, even in light of his just announced, 24-city “I Am Music” tour.

“Wayne offered the promoter, Ed Strickland, another date without penalty,” she elaborated. “Due to mandatory tour rehearsal for his upcoming ‘I Am Music’ tour the date had to be postponed again.”

In addition to Wayne’s headlining, nationwide arena tour conflicting with the Rochester show, the rapper also declined to attempt to do the show without T.I., who was booked to co-headline on December 6.

Unfortunately, the Atlanta star also had to pull out after discovering the Rochester concert would conflict with an appearance that same evening on Saturday Night Live.

Currently, Wayne fans that purchased tickets for the October 26 show will have to patiently wait for a third concert date to be announced.

Despite the problems behind the scenes, Hughes was adamant in detailing that Wayne’s first concern is always sharing his music with his fans, and that the much-delayed Rochester, New York show remains a top priority on his busy schedule.

“He never wanted to let down his fans and has already made arrangements to reschedule the performance,” Hughes added. “The Rochester date will take place after his tour.”

Wayne’s anticipated “I Am Music” tour kicks off December 14 in Miami.

Man Convicted Of Murdering T.I.'s Assistant

By Ace Cannon

A jury has convicted the man accused of gunning down rapper T.I.'s assistant last May after a show in Cincinnati. Hosea Thomas, 35, was found guilty on all counts - including murder - today (November 26).

Prosecutors alleged that Thomas was the triggerman in the May 3, 2006 shooting, while his brother Padron drove the Jeep that followed two of the rapper's vans down I-75.

The incident stemmed from an earlier altercation inside of Club Ritz, where Hosea was struck in the head with a bottle.

Hosea Thomas was convicted of firing the shots into T.I.'s van that struck and killed Philant Johnson, who died from a gunshot wound to the left temple.

Three other members of T.I.'s entourage were injured during the exchange, which took place on the interstate.

Hosea Thomas was convicted after a number of people testified he was the shooter, including his own brother Padron, who will receive a lesser sentence for his cooperation.

Thomas faces 20 years to life in prison when he is sentenced December 23.

In related news, T.I. and his Grand Hustle cohorts plan to give back to their Atlanta community through a series of charitable events this Thanksgiving.

Following a press conference, which kicks off at 9:00 am, T.I. and his entourage will help serve food and will also speak encouraging words to the children and parents in attendance.

At 7:00 PM, T.I. will head to Adamsville Recreation Center, where he and members of his Grand Hustle imprint will host a turkey giveaway.

Later, the rapper will head to Turner Field, where he will take part in the Feed The Hungry & Homeless event.

T.I. & SHAWTY LO BUMP HEADS

T.I. and Shawty Lo may have squashed their feud, but there’s definite tension between the respective crews. Gyantscoop reports that a fight broke out between Grand Hustle and members of Lo’s crew at the Dirty Awards in Atlanta last night (11/25).

Sources say things got heated when Shawty Lo performed ”Don’t I,” a diss version of Grand Hustle artist Young LA’s “Ain’t I” in front of the Grand Hustle crew. The self-proclaimed “Grand Hustle Muscle” Alfamega then lost his cool and threw a chair onto the stage. Yung L.A. and other GH artists then reportedly rushed the stage, but cops quickly intervened.

Moments later, Tip took the stage to accept an award and pleaded for he and Lo to squash their feud during the acceptance speech. Tip’s plea apparently fell on deaf ears. Another altercation took place while Tip and GH performed “Ain’t I.”

Shawty Lo is innocent. As previously reported, members of T.I. and Lo’s crews got into an altercation during Radio One’s Fourth Annual Dirty Awards in Atlanta last night (11/25).

Early reports say the fight started when Lo taunted Grand Hustle with his own version of Yung L.A.’s “Ain’t I.” But to let the Bankhead rapper tell it, he didn’t instigate anything.

“I didn’t go and start nothing. If they rewind the cameras, they’ll see how it started,” Lo told MTV. “I’m a man. I respect every man as a man. If a man disrespects me, what am I supposed to do? T.I. needs to contain his people. We’re not standing down. I performed my music; 107.9 [one of the show's organizers] called me to perform. I didn’t come to start no beef with him. I gave Tip a shout out at the BET [Hip-Hop] Awards.”

Lo actually claims Tips’ camp started the fight. He tells MTV Alfamega and other Grand Hustle artists approached the stage and started ice grilling during his performance.

“Basically, I didn’t start saying anything about Tip,” Lo explained. “I was performing my music. During ‘Foolish,’ all of them was coming in front of the stage doing their mugging. After ‘Dunn, Dunn,’ I performed the dis record ‘Don’t I.’ That’s what made me perform the diss record. I ain’t gonna lie; they was disrespecting me. I wasn’t gonna let them disrespect me.”

Lo fittingly bumped into T.I. when his D4L crew was taken backstage minutes after the melee. The two briefly spoke in a private meeting, in which Tip apparently suggested they end their feud once and for all.

“He told me the beef was over with,” Lo told MTV. “I said, ‘If the beef was let go, me and you have to publicize it. We have to do it together.’ He agreed to do that, and we shook hands in the back room.”

Lo claims Tip then accepted an award on stage before taunting, “if somebody’s got a problem with me, do something better than me.” He then began performing “Ain’t I” with Yung L.A., sparking another altercation between the two crews. Tip wasn’t involved in any of the fights. Lo says he’s still willing to squash the beef, isn’t sure T.I.’s on the same page.

“[Me and Tip's conversation] ended on a positive note with the conversation,” Lo said. “I don’t know where he is [with the beef]. I guess he just be talking. One thing about it, Shawty Lo ain’t no punk. T.I. is just a rapper. He knows how to read a book good. Where I live is for real. I ain’t got nothing against homes. He’s got family, I got family. I’m not trying to kill him, he’s not trying to kill me. I got fans that love me. He’s not not gonna run all over me. I ain’t Lil’ Flip.”
